Serbia: Development of Financial System in Rural Areas

The overall objective of the programme is to support the development and competitiveness of agricultural producers in Serbia through the improvement of rural and agricultural credit technology in the banking sector and establishment of sustainable long-term lending facilities.

Within the programme, up to three commercial banks are envisioned to benefit from dedicated credit lines and technical assistance in strengthening rural and agrilending operations. BFC’s mission is to assist the participating banks with the implementation of the credit lines and support them to expand their rural & agricultural lending portfolio by streamlining the lending processes, developing dedicated products and marketing strategies, strengthening credit risk management and building the capacities of banks’ staff.
