Feasibility Study: Agro Insurance in Armenia and Georgia

BFC was selected to conduct a feasibility study aiming to identify viable agricultural insurance schemes corresponding to the country risk profile of Armenia and Georgia.

The study examined existing initiatives and products for agro-insurance, analysed the existing regulatory frameworks and demand for agro-insurance among local farmers, and provided detailed recommendations for the setup (in Armenia) or improvement (in Georgia) of national agro-insurance schemes based on international best practices. The results of the feasibility study are expected to be used by local agro-insurance market stakeholders and international partners as a guide for the further development of specific agro-insurance solutions to mitigate weather-related risks and provide a comprehensive coverage for crop production in these countries.
