With the purpose to increase the internal capacity of the Leading Bank in Georgia to conduct EE lending in a successful and sustainable manner, BFC was contracted by the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) with resources from Green for Growth Fund to support the Bank in developing and implementing an EE lending strategy and EE loan products.
BFC will work alongside a dedicated team of senior and middle management staff from a prominent, medium-sized microfinance institution (MFI) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to develop energy efficiency financing, predominantly in currently underserved rural regions.
A research assessment and gap analysis study to assist the European Investment Bank (EIB) in understanding the financing needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the five project countries and identify market failures. The project will involve onsite visits to each of the target countries to conduct research into the relative importance of factors affecting SME development within each country. It will then develop cross-country comparisons that will illuminate potential avenues for future EIB operations in the region.
