Diagnostic Study of the Azeri Agricultural Sector and Opportunities for increasing MSMEs’ access to finance

BFC was contracted by the EBRD to perform a comprehensive market assessment of the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan, identify development opportunities for the EBRD “Azerbaijan Agricultural Finance Facility” (AzAFF) and advise EBRD on how to develop a technical assistance programme that would contribute effectively to agricultural development in Azerbaijan by addressing gaps in access to finance and other relevant areas.

SME Development and Financing Potential in the Eastern European Partnership Countries

A research assessment and gap analysis study to assist the European Investment Bank (EIB) in understanding the financing needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the five project countries and identify market failures. The project will involve onsite visits to each of the target countries to conduct research into the relative importance of factors affecting SME development within each country. It will then develop cross-country comparisons that will illuminate potential avenues for future EIB operations in the region.

Banking Environment and Performance Survey (BEPS) II

BEPS II is carried out to get a better understanding of the current state of the banking system by means of a survey conducted in 31 countries, covering approximately 872 banks. The survey will provide a detailed snapshot of the region’s banking sectors before and after the crisis. (more…)
