Innovative Approach for Financing Agricultural Activities in FINCA

finca-fasaIn the frames of “Financing the Agricultural Sector in Armenia” (FASA) project, FINCA is launching an innovative approach for financing agricultural activities.

For the first time in the Armenian market the lending process is being realized through value chain financing. For that purpose, FINCA has designed new “Fertile” loan, which is meant for individuals, farmers and entrepreneurs, who need support for acquiring seeds, fertilizers, small agricultural equipment, and other agricultural utilities. Innovative Value Chain Agro-Lending Scheme Launched

Value-Chain A new preferential agricultural lending scheme has been launched through the Financing the Agriculture Sector in Armenia program. The scheme is being implemented by the German-Armenian Fund and was developed in collaboration with the German Development Bank (KfW) with the assistance of Swiss-based consultancy Business and Finance Consulting (BFC). The agro-lending scheme employs innovative “tripartite” value chain financing, in which lenders become full financial partners across the value chain. FINCA Armenia—a microfinance institution—and ArtAgro—an agro-services company with activities across the agricultural value chain—are participating in the pilot scheme.

Georgia Agri Insurance Workshop

_W2A9164 The Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia (MoA), in collaboration with the German Development Bank (KfW), implemented special Workshop on Agricultural Insurance in Georgia: Status, Challenges, and Prospects, organized by Swiss based consulting firm Business & Finance Consulting (BFC) as part of a feasibility study on agricultural insurance in Georgia, funded by the German government through the engagement of KfW as the project management agency.
