Culture eats strategy for breakfast

vienna-conf2-110x72“Culture eats strategy for breakfast” — beginning with this famous quote by Peter Drucker, Michael Kortenbusch guided participants through a two-hour journey exploring the four key activities that form BFC’s Strategic Planning Framework: Understand, Decide, Plan, and Implement.

Based on a fictional business case study, participants worked together, in three groups, on a structured exercise to develop strategic options for how MFI “Villager” can sustain its competitiveness in a maturing microfinance market. The use of innovative tools, including Alexander Osterwalder’s “Business Model Generation”, allowed the MFI managers to gain a new perspective on how to analyse and model business cases as part of a strategic planning exercise.
